Patty Chen is a lawyer at Naarendorp Advocaten. She has been working in legal practice since 2011. Her practice focuses on civil law, including corporate law, employment law, M&A, contract law.

This was interrupted in 2018, when she was appointed plenipotentiary and extraordinary ambassador for the Republic of Suriname in the People’s Republic of China. She served as ambassador until January 2022. After her return to Suriname, she resumed legal practice in combination with her work as an advisor for the Suriname Diplomatic Institute at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Business and International Cooperation. She did this until December 2023.

Before starting her legal practice, she served as a certified interpreter in the Chinese languages Mandarin, Cantonese and Hakka from the end of 2007, and provided interpretation services to both the private and public sectors, including the various departments of the Ministry of Justice and the Police and Public-Notary offices.
