Edward Naarendorp got into the legal profession after some wanderings. Started as an officer in the Dutch Royal Navy (1969, electrical engineering department), through a aborted study of technical physics (1971), teacher at the technical school in Suriname, active in the graphic world and journalism for many years. Started law school at the university of the then Netherlands Antilles and completed at the University of Suriname (1990). Served as deputy director of the Ministry of Justice and Police for five years and decided to enter the legal profession in 1992. Given his background and social involvement, it is broadly oriented. Has focused on informationand communicationlaw, IT law, IP law and corporate law in general.
